Before powering on an overhead crane, visually inspect the wire rope. There should be no distortion, kinking, crushing, unstrand, birdcaging, main strand displacement, core protrusion, corrosion, broken strands, cut strands or multiple broken wires. If any issues are found, follow proper lock-out tag-out procedures and report it to your engineer.
